When we were little my mom enforced a very valuable lesson in all of us that I still follow to this day. In fact one of my team rules for the girls on the swim team is this tip as well.
Problem: Eating to many sweets a day/ being unaware of what you are consuming.
Tip:(From Kim Houk) only allow your delve to treats a day. This can include a lolly pop and 1 cookie. It could be a thing of fruit snacks and fun size candy bar. The trick is one item=I treat. Sounds a little extreme but really is smart.
